As The World Turns ... postscript Mr. James White

I didn't pay much attention to this little, curt dig by Mr. James White the other day but it deserves at least an observation ...

So I wish to remind folks, especially folks who might be attending "discernment" or "apologetics" seminars featuring the primary architects of the Cover Up, of the questions they might want to ask Norman Geisler, Ergun Caner, and others. Personally, I am still waiting for Dr. Geisler's insightful identification of, and discussion of, Hadith 2425. I think he should look for it right next to Bible 916.

That didn't strike me as particularly interesting until I realized that Mr. White had never taken any legitimate Ph.D level coursework to earn a doctorate. He acquired his "doctorate from what was then a run down storefront diploma mill. Dr. Geisler, on the other hand, is in fact credentialed to engage a body of students at the Ph.D level in any legitimate seminary. I suspect that "Bible 916" is little more than a You Tube video in the minds of the Whitehead Army.

If White is going to abide by his own standards, he needs to always clarify to crowds that his Ph.D. is not accredited and he took no classes for it; just to avoid the Geisler-like cover up.

Absolutely ... The Whitehead Army has been covering up this failure for years by attributing the issue to one of accreditation rather than diploma mill.

I feel compelled to leave a comment, one Wesleyan-Arminian to another.

Dr. James White did not receive his diploma from a "diploma mill." Columbia Evangelical Seminary (formerly Faraston) is indeed unaccredited, but it is a legitimate, academically sound school. Not all unaccredited schools are diploma mills, though some are. White took multiple classes toward his ThD and wrote a significant dissertation. Also, White did not earn a PhD but a ThD there. Check out Columbia's website for more information.

Russ,
I appreciate your comments however I would like for you to visit Columbia before it created it's website. I provided the link in the post to a previous post of mine. This is not a matter of accreditation. Who provided you the information concerning White's classwork at Columbia? At the time of White's supposed education at Columbia (also known as Faraston at the time) it was nothing but a shabby storefront. It is unfortunate that a Mormon apologist brought all this to light some years ago but it is the truth. If you follow the link I provided you can get a good taste of the whole sordid matter.
This was not an example of earning a correspondence degree through coursework and hard work. Instead he received a "doctorate" from an institution that had no peer review, no classes, no qualified educators, absolutely nothing that would be acceptable in any accredited institution.
If your source of information comes form the White camp or Columbia, it is my opinion you are being sold a bill of goods.

I am not a fan of Dr. White. However, I agree. Columbia Evangelical Seminary is not a diploma mill. It was ranked by a group of academics at thebestschools.org as one of the top 10 apologetics programs in the country. In addition, the State of Oregon is very strict with unaccredited degrees. A graduate submitted his doctoral degree for assessment. The state has allowed the degree to be legally used in the state without noting its unaccredited status due to meeting standards for accredited doctoral degrees.

Dear Anonymous,

You just flat out lied, I mean flat out lied. They granted a religious wavior as they do not regulate religious degrees, nor does their law on degrees effect religious schools. It's a mill that lists a bunch of faculty that's does nothing and has nothing to do with the school. I know faculty member who had to threaten a lawsuit to have his name removed from their faculty list. It's affront to those of us who have earned real degrees. I saw that one of their recent grads with a PhD only wrote a 6,000 dissertation. Mine was 123,000 words....please do not try to claim this school is not a mill when you can buy credits to us in the phd program for your life's works.
